Forwards

Leroy Sane – 6

Took a while to get going tonight and credit Birger Meling who defended resolutely. Sane glided past players when cutting inside, but his end product was really poor. He lost the ball more than you’d like and defensively, he didn’t look overly motivated to help out Mazraoui.

Kingsley Coman – 6

You could largely copy and paste the above from Sane into this section for Coman. Plenty of willingness and plenty of dribbling, but not a lot of end product. He’s certainly more willing to do the defensive work and he combined well with Davies down the left, but no higher than a 6.

Harry Kane – 6.5

Important flick-on for the winning goal, and he didn’t stop working. He had a couple of misplaced passes and failed to impact proceedings for much of the game. The English striker really didn’t have the service outside of a half-chance in the first 45. He’s been outstanding for Bayern so far, but this won’t be remembered as a Harry Kane game.

Thomas Muller (Substitute) – 8

This may seem a little high, but his work for that second goal won Bayern the game. The run was timed to perfection, with the power to hold off two defenders, the faint to put the keeper on the floor, and then the pass to Tel to seal the three points. It was absolutely outstanding from Muller, showing his experience and class.

Mathys Tel (Substitute) – 7.5

All this man does is score. Muller did the hard work for the game but Tel was in the right-price and it was a confident finish into the top corner. When you have a player who consistently comes off the bench to score, it changes the dynamics of the team.

Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting (Substitute) – 6

Didn’t have enough time to impact his score. The final save from Ulreich came off EMCM, so he’ll be thankful that his one contribution wasn’t to contribute to the goal that cost Bayern 2 points.
