Defenders

Noussair Mazraoui – 6

Mazraoui is always willing to go forward, but his crosses into the box were poor tonight. He has plenty of speed to recover defensively, but Copenhagen did get in behind on a couple of occasions and it usually came down Bayern’s right. The Moroccan defender needs to do better when he starts to cement a place in the starting XI.

Alphonso Davies – 7.5

Davies was excellent on Tuesday. He was sound defensively, but it was his willingness to bring the ball forward that set him apart. Bayern was a little predictable at the start, with the constant shifting to the wing, but once Davies started coming inside it opened up more room.

Dayot Upamecano – 6

It’s hard to rate central defenders when they have large periods with nothing to do. Dayot Upamecano was solid if unspectacular in defense. Maybe he could have got out to Lerager on the goal, but that’s being picky and a bit harsh.

Kim Min-jae – 7

You get the impression that Kim Min-jae is getting better and more comfortable every week. His distribution was excellent, giving Bayern impetus while dominating the possession. The South Korean defender made a couple of very good covering runs, which is why he’s rated higher than Upamecano.
