Bayern Munich are expected to be busy in the transfer market during January, looking to strengthen their side in the second half of the season with Thomas Tuchel having both Bundesliga and Champions League aspirations. The Bavarian clubs are largely looking for new signings, but one first-team player is attracting interest from England.
Reports in England this week are suggesting that Manchester United could be planning a transfer swoop for one of Bayern’s key men, which will test the Munich club’s resolve.
Bayern spent a lot of money in the summer transfer window attracting striker Harry Kane (€100 million) and central defender Min-Jae Kim (€50 million), and if they hope to secure more signings in January, maybe facilitating an exit is on the cards.
Manchester United have had an uneven start to the season having won just 3 of their opening 6 games, finding themselves sitting 9th in the Premier League. They also lost their opening Champions League game 4-3 at the hands of Bayern Munich.
The upheaval at Old Trafford has largely been blamed for the early struggles. The Red Devils are currently in the process of changing ownership, with protests against the current American owners a weekly occurrence. United fans have become so incensed with the Glazers that they hired a plane to fly over the Tampa Bay Bucs game protesting, the Bucs are also owned by the Glazers.
Within the playing squad, Jadon Sancho has been isolated following his public criticism of Erik ten Hag with the England winger being banned from all first-team activities, even eating in the canteen, and Brazilian winger Antony has been absent due to legal issues. So Manchester United are on the lookout for reinforcements.
Manchester United planning swoop for Bayern forward Serge Gnabry
With uncertainly in the wide areas, Manchester United are reportedly looking at former Arsenal forward and current Bayern man Serge Gnabry to fill the void, despite the winger being injured in the 4-0 victory against Preussen Munster in the DFB Pokal.
Gnabry suffered through a disappointing spell with Arsenal, which included a disastrous loan move to West Brom. Having rebuilt his career in Germany with Werder Bremen and Bayern Munich, Manchester United are willing to give him a shot at Premier League redemption.

Gnabry has been a key player for Bayern scoring 14 goals in 34 appearances in the Bundesliga last year, his 5th straight year with double-digit goals in the competition.
Despite Manchester United’s reported interest, it’s unclear if Gnabry would be open to the move. He is firmly established at Bayern, a team who will challenge for every title this year. Whereas United continues to experience issues having not won a league title since 2012–13.
This United team is not the Alex Ferguson team, which became a dream destination for many players around the world. Gnabry would be better off sticking with Bayern.
