VfL Bochum

Bochum are yet to win a Bundesliga game this season. Despite having not yet claimed three points in a single match, they sit a respectable 13th having earned three points from draws against Dortmund, Augsburg, and Frankfurt. Bochum have not been great in their away travels, having conceded seven goals, so I’m sure Thomas Letsch will be sweating his defense Saturday as they face a high-flying Bayern attack.

Manuel Riemann will look to get the start in goal as he has been the starter for the first four matches. Bochum’s back three should consist of Erhan Masovic, Dynamo Moscow loanee Ivan Ordets, and Bochum newcomer Bernardo.

Felix Passlack, who joined Bochum from Dortmund this summer on a free transfer, and Maximilian Wittek have started each of the first four Bundesliga matches as right wingback and left wingback. I’d imagine they partner up for a fifth straight start together. Centrally, Anthony Losilla will captain the side and play as the true defensive midfielder. Beside him will be the Slovakian Matus Bero and Kevin Stoger.

Finishing off Bochum’s 3-5-2, big man Philipp Hofmann will give Bochum the physical presence they will need to hold up play and a target for set pieces. Japanese international, and German nemesis, Takuma Asano will play alongside Hofmann and look to stretch the Bayern backline.

Predicted Score

Bayern Munich 3-1 VFL Bochum (Goals: Sane and Kane x2)

Bayern will have little trouble controlling the game and jumping on Bochum early. Sane and Kane make it 3-0 before, stop me if you’ve seen this before, the defense allows a goal in the final 10 minutes.
