Bayern Munich agree fee with Inter Milan for Benjamin Pavard
The final ten days of the transfer window will be busy for Bayern Munich. The Bavarian club will have to dip into the transfer market for a defender that can play in central defense and right-back positions. The new arrival will be the replacement of Benjamin Pavard as he is closing on a move to Inter Milan.
According to Sky Sports Italia’s Gianluca Di Marzio, Inter has reached an agreement over a transfer fee with Bayern for Pavard. The Italian club will pay €30 million upfront with €2 million in add-ons. Pavard has already set his heart on a move to Inter Milan.
The Italian club tried to sign Pavard in January. They had a bid rejected on deadline day for the French international as they were looking to replace Milan Skriniar. With a move to Manchester United dead in the water for Pavard, Inter Milan stepped up negotiations with Die Roten in the last few days.
Bayern will sanction the move once they find a replacement for Pavard. TZ has reported Die Roten’s interest in Feyenoord’s Lutsharel Geertruida, while AZ has reported that RB Leipzig’s Lukas Klostermann is a potential target to replace Pavard in Munich.
Pavard has been a crucial player for Bayern in the last four seasons. He has been consistently delivering solid performances in the right-back position. Rekordmeister have to reluctantly sell him since he has entered the final 12 months of his contract. Pavard has no plans to sign a new deal with Die Roten.
The French defender wants to play regularly in central defense. He also wants to experience a new project. Inter Milan ticks both boxes. The 27-year-old defender will get a chance to play in central defense as Inter consistently uses a three-man defense. Inter are getting a quality defender on a bargain fee in the current transfer market.
Bayern will have to sign a new defender to replace Pavard since they have already loaned Josip Stanisic to Bayer Leverkusen. It remains to be seen who will be the versatile defender that can fill the void left by Pavard. As things stand, a move for Pavard should go through later this week.

Noussair Mazraoui now has the chance to nail down the right-back position at Bayern. The Moroccan defender did well against Werder Bremen. After the departure of Pavard, Mazraoui will get an extended run in the starting XI. If Bayern fails to sign a new versatile defender, Joshua Kimmich and Konrad Laimer will be emergency options in the right-back position.
