Bayern Munich: Leroy Sane rejected interest from Barcelona
Bayern Munich had made strengthening the attack their priority for the summer transfer window. The Bavarian achieved this objective by signing Harry Kane from Tottenham Hotspur. The English forward has hit the ground running for Bayern with a goal against Werder Bremen on Friday. Leroy Sane also stood out for Die Roten on Friday by scoring two goals.
The German winger has been enjoying a good run of form since the arrival of Thomas Tuchel. Sane has been playing on the right flank and becoming a much more significant threat in the final. The 27-year-old forward was also subject to interest from one of Die Roten’s European rivals this summer.
According to Bild, Barcelona had shown concrete interest in Leroy Sane earlier in the summer. The German forward opted to stay in Munich. Sane is very motivated with his progress under Tuchel. The former Manchester City forward will decide on long-term future in Munich next summer, depending on how things go for him this season.
Sane has been hit-and-miss for Bayern since arriving from Manchester City in 2020. The German winger has still managed 77 goals and assists in 135 appearances for Bayern. He needs to become more consistent in the final third to fulfill his enormous potential. It will be intriguing to see if he finally manages to achieve consistency at Die Roten under the guidance of Tuchel. (Stats courtesy: Transfermarkt)
Apart from Sane, Kingsley Coman and Thomas Muller have rejected moves away from Bayern this summer. Coman was subject to enormous offers from Saudi Arabian clubs, but he decided to stay put in Munich. The French winger signed a new deal at Bayern in 2022 to spend the rest of the peak years of his career in Bavaria.
Meanwhile, Muller was also reportedly subject to interest from Saudi Arabian. The German forward remains eager to play at the top level for a few more years. Muller endured a problematic pre-season due to injury problems, but he has made an excellent start to the new campaign. The experienced forward came off the bench against Werder Bremen on Friday and provided an assist for Sane’s second goal.

Mathys Tel is also expected to stay in Bayern despite being linked with a loan move to Augsburg. The French forward came off the bench against Bremen to score Die Roten’s fourth goal. Serge Gnabry, Sane, Coman, Tel, and Muller are going to be the set of forwards that will play around Kane and Jamal Musiala for Bayern throughout the season.
