Lesser drama off the pitch and more success on it

The 2022/23 campaign was poor for Bayern despite clinching the Bundesliga title on the final day. They struggled for consistency in performances throughout the campaign, which led to so much drama off the pitch.

Julian Nagelsmann was sacked in March due to inconsistency in performances. Thomas Tuchel was appointed as the new head coach to make sure Die Roten compete for all trophies. However, they were knocked out of the Champions League and DFB Pokal in the quarter-final stage. There was a dressing room altercation between Sadio Mane and Leroy Sane during the defeat against Manchester City at Etihad Stadium. Manuel Neuer publicly criticised Bayern for sacking goalkeeping coach Toni Tapalovic.

Hasan Salihamidzic and Oliver Kahn were sacked before the end of the season. There were numerous reports throughout the campaign about dressing room rifts under Nagelsmann. It was an entertaining campaign for all the wrong reasons. Bayern fans will be hoping that there is no such drama this season and things move more smoothly for the team on the pitch.
