Bayern Munich: Kingsley Coman rejects multiple offers from Saudi Arabia
Saudi Pro League has dominated the summer transfer window. Several high-profile players from top European clubs have joined Saudi Arabian clubs. Bayern Munich also sold Sadio Mane to Al Nassr few weeks ago for a fairly decent fee. Mane was not the only Bayern player that was attracting interest from Saudi Arabia.
According to TZ, two Saudi Arabian clubs tried to sign Kingsley Coman this summer. The French forward had offers worth €45 million and €65 million per year to make a move to Saudi Arabia. However, Coman is eager to stay in Munich at this stage of his career.
Kingsley Coman has been an important player for Die Roten over the past few seasons. It would have taken an incredible offer for Bayern to part ways with the French forward, provided he had requested a move to Saudi Arabia.
Along with offers from Saudi Arabia, RMC is reporting that Manchester City also showed interest in Coman to replace Riyad Mahrez. Die Roten didn’t entertain the interest from Man City, which forced the European champions to look elsewhere to strengthen the attack for the new season.
Coman was one of the consistent performers for Die Roten last season, so it makes no sense to part ways with him. Moreover, replacing Coman in the current market will be even more expensive than the fee Bayern will end up getting from Saudi Arabian clubs.
Bayern considers Coman a crucial member of the squad. They managed to secure the future of the French winger at the start of 2022. Despite interest from various clubs in Europe, Kingsley Coman wanted to spend the peak years of his career in Munich. Julian Nagelsmann also added him to the leadership group of the squad during the 2021/22 campaign.
The departure of Julian Nagelsmann was a big blow for Coman since he was flourishing under the 35-year-old German coach. However, Coman quickly established himself as a crucial player for Thomas Tuchel at the end of last season. Die Roten is looking to bounce back from a disappointing last season with multiple trophies this season. Coman will certainly play a crucial role in achieving Bayern’s targets for the next campaign.
