Bayern Munich are expected to be busy in the final three weeks of the transfer window. The Bavarian club has reached an agreement with Tottenham Hotspur for Harry Kane. Along with strengthening the attack with Kane, Bayern are also looking to strengthen the midfield by signing a defensive midfielder.
According to Footmercato, Bayern have identified PSV Eindhoven’s Ibrahim Sangare to strengthen the midfield. The 25-year-old midfielder has a release clause of €37 million in his contract at PSV. The Bundesliga champions are expected to open talks with PSV in the coming days.
Sangare primarily operates in the defensive midfield role for PSV. Along with breaking up play as a destroyer, Sangare is also tidy on the ball. He will be the ideal type of midfielder for Thomas Tuchel in the current system. The German coach publicly admitted that Bayern’s squad lacks a natural defensive midfielder.
Bayern had previously prioritised a move for Declan Rice at the start of the transfer window. However, the English midfielder preferred staying in the Premier League. He left West Ham to join Arsenal for £105 million in July.
After missing out on Rice, several midfielders have been linked with a move to Die Roten. The Bavarian club has prioritized other positions over a midfielder in the past few weeks. Moreover, adding another midfielder may also depend on departures from the squad.
Leon Goretzka is facing an uncertain future at Bayern. The German international wants to stay in Munich but he is not the first-choice midfield option under Tuchel. Goretzka will primarily come off the bench for Die Roten next season. Rekordmeister is not actively looking to sell him, but an enticing offer may change their mind.
Ryan Gravenberch is another midfielder that may not play in Bavarian colours next season. The Dutch midfielder struggled for consistent playing time last season. He is open to leaving Bavaria if Die Roten cannot guarantee him an adequate amount of playing time. Liverpool held talks with Gravenberch, but the move to Merseyside is off the table. Gravenberch’s situation is one to watch in the final few days of the transfer window.

Sangare ticks several boxes to add another good profile to Die Roten’s midfield. It remains to be seen how Bayern approaches this deal. Will they wait for one departure in the midfield department before moving for Sangare, or vice-versa? The next three weeks are set to be exciting for Die Roten as there is a significant business left to do.
