When Bayern’s CEO Jan Christian Dressen and technical director Marco Neppe meet Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy on Monday after their meeting today was delayed, Harry Kane won’t be the only player on the agenda. According to multiple reports from England including Matt Law from the Daily Telegraph, Tottenham is very interested in bringing Mathys Tel to England and may use the pending Kane deal as leverage.

Die Roten is still confident that they can secure a deal for Kane and Sport1 is suggesting that Bayern are ready to offer €100 million for the English forward, who’s about to enter the last year of his contract.

Daniel Levy is renowned as a tough negotiator, and many believe his last-minute cancellation of the planned talks today is just another one of his tactics to maintain complete control over the situation. So it wouldn’t surprise anyone if he makes the inclusion of 18-year-old Mathys Tel a prerequisite for getting the deal done.

It’s unclear how willing Thomas Tuchel and the rest of the Bayern management team would be in letting their prized asset leave, but a loan move could be on the cards, offering Tel the perfect chance to gain experience in one of the better leagues in world football.

Mathys Tel has made his intention clear in wanting to stay with the German champions

Tottenham aren’t the first team to come calling for Tel’s services this summer. Augsburg was interested in taking him on a loan, along with a number of clubs in England and Germany.

Tel has made his intentions clear, he wants to stay with Die Roten and fight for his place, believing in both the direction of the team and the ability for him to develop.

Since moving to Munich in 2022 from French club Rennes, Tel has played sporadically, scoring 5 goals in 22 appearances, mostly in cameo appearances off the bench for the final 15-20 minutes.

Although he came through the ranks as a center-back, Tel has become an accomplished forward with outstanding technical ability, paired with intensity.

Although he can operate as a left or right-sided winger, his best position is seen as a center forward, with the majority of his appearances coming while leading the attack.

If Harry Kane were to arrive from Tottenham this summer, it’s likely that would limit his role to a similar one as last year, but on the other hand, it would give him the opportunity to learn from one of the best center-forwards in the world football.

Thomas Tuchel was asked about the possibility of letting Tel leave on loan this summer in his press conference this morning, to which he said: “We’re not thinking beyond tomorrow. If something would happen, we will only discuss it late in the transfer window”.
