Bayern Munich: Sadio Mane closing on a move to Al Nassr
Bayern Munich has been working on finding the right balance in terms of new signings and departures this summer. The Bavarian club doesn’t have a big budget, so they need to sort outgoings to make space for new arrivals. After selling Lucas Hernandez to Paris Saint-Germain a fortnight ago, Bayern is close to parting ways with Sadio Mane.
According to transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano, Bayern has verbally reached an agreement with Al Nassr to sell Sadio Mane. The Senegalese forward has been in talks with Al Nassr for the past few days after Bayern reportedly told him that he doesn’t feature in their plans for next season. He was also linked with Al-Hilal and Al Ahli.
CBS correspondent James Benge is reporting that Bayern will get close to €40 million for Mane from Al Nassr. The 31-year-old forward will be earning €40 million per season after agreeing to a three-year deal with the Saudi Arabian club.
Mane may leave the squad in Japan to undergo medical before signing the contract with Al Nassr. Bayern will end up recouping the fee they had paid for Mane to sign him from Liverpool last summer. The English club had received £35 million from the Bavarian club, including add-ons.
Sadio Mane lifted Bundesliga and DFL Supercup titles with Bayern last season. He arrived in Bavaria with a lot of fanfare after his long successful stint at Liverpool. However, things didn’t go as per plan for the Senegalese forward at Bayern. He will be leaving the club after scoring 12 goals in one season.
Mane enjoyed a fine start to life at Bayern, scoring at a good rate. Things started going downhill for him when Bayern collectively went through a dip in form last September. A serious injury in November derailed his campaign completely. Mane couldn’t play in the World Cup due to this injury, as he was on the sidelines for three months.
The former Liverpool forward struggled for form and rhythm when he returned from injury in February. He scored only one goal in the final three months of the season. Moreover, the Senegalese forward was also suspended for a game by Die Roten due to a dressing room bust-up with Leroy Sane.

There has been consistent speculation over Mane’s future since the end of the last season. Mane was determined to stay at Bayern, but he eventually decided to leave Bavaria. From a financial point of view, Die Roten will significantly trim the wage bill by selling Mane since he was one of the big earners in the squad.
