Bayern Munich may have to sign a new goalkeeper in the next few days. Alexander Nubel completed a loan move to VfB Stuttgart on Tuesday. The German goalkeeper was eager to leave Bayern this summer after spending the last two seasons on loan at Monaco.

Along with Nubel, Yann Sommer is expected to leave Die Roten. The Swiss goalkeeper will leave the Bavarian on a permanent deal since he wants to play regularly next season. Sommer will find it difficult to play regularly next season at Bayern since Manuel Neuer will soon return to complete fitness.

Inter Milan has a concrete interest in Sommer. The 34-year-old goalkeeper has reportedly agreed personal terms with the Swiss shot-stopper. Bayern will have to look for a number two if a move for Sommer is completed in the coming days. The Bavarian club may have identified a new target for this position.

According to transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano, Bayern is weighing up a move for Brentford’s David Raya. The Spanish goalkeeper is expected to leave Brentford this summer since he has less than 12 months left on his contract. Die Roten has initiated talks to explore a deal for Raya.

Raya was heavily linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur at the start of the transfer window. However, Brentford priced him out of the move as they want £40 million for the Spaniard. Spurs ended their interest in Raya and signed Guglielmo Vicario from Empoli.

Bayern has no plans to spend big for a new goalkeeper this summer. It will be a big surprise if they agree to pay half of what Brentford wants for Raya. The English club risk losing him for a free transfer next summer, so a drop in their evaluation may take place later in the transfer window.

The Bavarian club needs to address this position sooner rather than later. Thomas Tuchel reportedly wants a strong number two since there is uncertainty over the fitness of Neuer. The German international is in Munich recovering from the leg injury that has kept him out for the last seven months. It remains to be seen if he will be fit by the start of the new season.

Sommer has travelled with the squad to Japan, but he would hope to secure a move to Inter sooner rather than later. Apart from Raya, Yassine Bounou, Giorgi Mamardashvili, and Roberto Sanchez have been linked with Bayern this summer. Die Roten should ideally have a new number two by the time team returns to Munich from the pre-season tour.
