Who’s Next?

Leon Goretzka

With Bayern officials announcing that they will openly look at offers for star midfielder Leon Goretzka, the German international has picked up a lot of interest from multiple Premier League clubs, including Manchester United and Liverpool. However, the most promising of the bunch would be West Ham as they are actively seeking a new world-class midfielder after their sale of Declan Rice to Arsenal.

Bayern signed Goretzka back in July of 2018 on a free transfer and has since found his starting role as a defensive midfielder, paired with Kimmich. Since his signing, Goretzka has scored 34 goals across five seasons. Bayern has crafted Goretzka into a great player; however, the signing of Konrad Laimer makes it seem like Goretzka’s departure from Bavaria is possible this summer.

Benjamin Pavard

After not accepting the offered contract extension last season, Bayern are forced into the sale of right-back Benjamin Pavard, unless they want to see him walk for free next year. It has become more clear that the Germans are open to selling the Frenchman as they are chasing the signing of  Kyle Walker.

Oddly enough, the side that has shown the most interest in Pavard is Manchester City, who are waiting on the sale of Walker. Other teams that have shown interest are Manchester United and Juventus, but if City and Bayern can agree on terms for Pavard, it would seem as though the Walker transfer would be a done deal as well– seeing how they would be each other’s replacements.

Sadio Mane

After an underwhelming debut season, Sadio Mane could leave Die Roten this summer. Though his contract runs until 2025 and he wants to stay with the team, Bayern is still looking to offload the Senegalese superstar.

With a good start to last season, Mane initially looked like he was the man to replace Lewandowski. However, after returning from injury, the final half of the season was a massive disappointment. Mane ended the season with only 12 goals across 38 games in all competition. To make up the funding to secure the signing of Harry Kane, you can assume that Mane is one of the next to go. The Senegalese forward is reportedly in talks with Al Nassr.

Yann Sommer

Bayern is expected to have Manuel Neuer fit for next season after sitting out of action in the last seven months due to a serious injury. The return of Neuer is also expected to trigger the departure of Yann Sommer. The Swiss goalkeeper wants to play regularly next season, so he is expected to leave Die Roten.

Inter Milan has shown a concrete interest in Sommer. The Italian club wants to sign the Swiss goalkeeper to replace Andre Onana. Sommer was not included in the squad for the first pre-season friendly game on Tuesday, so his departure is likely to be concluded sooner rather than later. Along with Sommer, Alexander Nubel is also expected to leave Bayern permanently after spending the last two seasons on loan at Monaco.
