Bayern Munich: Summer Transfer Window Round-Up
By Isaac Rivers
Lucas Hernandez (€50 million)
After multiple injury-prone seasons and a tricky contract situation, Bayern found it necessary to part ways with their once record-breaking signing Lucas Hernandez. The Frenchman has now joined Ligue 1 powerhouse Paris Saint-Germain for €50 million.
Since signing for Bayern in 2019, Hernandez has built up quite the trophy case with his previous side, winning the Bundesliga title for four consecutive years, along with the likes of the DFB Pokal, DFL Supercup, UEFA Supercup, FIFA Club World Cup, and most notably, the Champions League in 2020.
It is safe to say that Hernandez will definitely be missed, especially with his versatility across the backline. However, with his departure finalized, Bayern acted quickly to find his successor in Kim Min-jae.
Daley Blind (Free Transfer)
Joining from Ajax in January on a free transfer, Daley Blind was a head-scratching signing for many people. Of course, Blind has been a quality defender for the Netherlands for years, and to be able to link up with his younger Dutch teammates in de Ligt and Ryan Gravenberch seemed like a smart move after all.
For a free transfer, it is hard to make any complaints about Blind’s time at Bayern. Due to age, Blind was ultimately brought in as a rotational defender to account for Bayern’s hefty schedule and any unforeseen injuries. After his short stint with Bayern, Blind has now joined La Liga side Girona on a free transfer.
