Bayern Munich is looking to make necessary changes to the squad this summer after a disappointing last season. The Bavarian club is expected to part ways with a few senior players that have less the one year left on their contract or don’t feature in Thomas Tuchel’s plans. Sadio Mane is one of the few senior players that will not feature in Tuchel’s plans at Bayern for next season.
Mane was part of the training camp at Tegernsee this week. The Senegalese forward was reportedly told by club chiefs that they are not counting on him for next season. Mane has been determined to stay in Bavaria, but it does look like he is now open to leaving the club after just one season.
According to The Athletic, Sadio Mane has opened talks with Al Nassr to explore a summer transfer. One of Mane’s representatives held talks with the sporting director of Al Nassr in Portugal this week. There is still significant work to do on this deal, as talks between the two clubs are yet to start.
Mane has been linked with a move to Saudi Pro-League since the end of last season. Al Hilal and Al Ahli have been previously linked with a move for Mane. The Saudi Pro-League has signed several top stars from European football this summer. Sadio Mane will link up with Cristiano Ronaldo if a move to Al Nassr is sealed.
Bayern is open to parting ways with Mane this summer as they look to sign a new number nine this summer. Mane is likely to make space for the new striker in the squad. The Bavarian club will look to get at least a fee of £35 million that they paid for him last summer.
Sadio Mane endured a tough debut campaign at Bayern. The Senegalese forward started last season on a good note, but his form dipped as the campaign progressed. Things took a turn for the worse when Mane suffered a severe leg injury in November that kept him out for more than three months.
After returning from a serious leg injury in February, Mane struggled to provide the cutting edge in the final third. He scored only one goal in the final three months of the season. The Senegalese forward was not a first-choice option in the attack for Tuchel by the time season came to an end.

It is a real shame that the best of Sadio Mane will not be seen in Bayern colours if he leaves this summer. From a financial perspective, his departure makes a lot of sense for the Bundesliga champions. Mane is one of the best paid players in the current squad, so parting ways with him will allow them to bring in someone like Harry Kane from Tottenham Hotspur.
