Bayern Munich is set to face disappointment in signing one of their top targets to improve their defense for next season. The Bavarian club is yet to find a breakthrough in the deal to sign Manchester City’s Kyle Walker. The latest update from Germany indicates that a move for Walker is looking unlikely for Bayern.

According to SportBild (via iMiaSanMia), Bayern is skeptical about signing Kyle Walker from Manchester City. The 33-year-old right-back is leaning towards staying with the Premier League champions. Bayern is still waiting for a response to the offer that they presented to Walker this summer.

Previously, Kicker had also reported that Die Roten is no longer confident about signing Kyle Walker from Manchester City. The English media has also reported that Manchester City has offered a new deal to the experienced defender. Walker may have to soon make a decision one way or the other to give clarity to both clubs.

Die Roten probably considers Walker as the direct replacement for Benjamin Pavard. The French defender has told Bayern about his desire for a new adventure this summer. He has entered the final 12 months of the contract, so Rekordmeister needs to sell him before the end of the window.

The German champions are yet to receive a concrete offer for Pavard. As things stand, the French defender will be part of the squad for the pre-season tour. Rekordmeister will hope they receive a concrete offer by the end of the summer for the French international.

Rekordmeister will have to turn their attention to other defenders if a move for Walker doesn’t materialize. The Bavarian club was linked with Chelsea’s Cesar Azpilicueta, but the Spaniard has left Stamford Bridge to join Atletico Madrid.

Bayern Munich has already made key changes to the personnel in defense for next season. After deciding against signing Joao Cancelo permanently from Manchester City, Bayern completed a deal to sign Raphael Guerreiro from Borussia Dortmund on a free transfer. Guerreiro will provide similar versatility to Thomas Tuchel as Cancelo did in the second half of the last season.

The Bavarian club also quickly sorted out the exit for Lucas Hernandez. The French defender completed a move to Paris Saint-Germain last weekend. Hernandez made it clear to Bayern Chiefs in mid-June that he wanted to join PSG after rejecting the offer from the Bavarian club. Rekordmeister has agreed a deal for Napoli’s Kim Min-jae to replace Hernandez in the squad.
