Bayern Munich not completely against selling Leon Goretzka
After failing to dominate games on a regular basis last season, Bayern Munich is looking to strengthen the midfield department this summer. The Bavarian club is looking to sign a number six after completing the deal to bring Konrad Laimer from RB Leipzig on a free transfer.
The arrival of two new midfielders will certainly cast doubt on the future of a few players in the squad. It does look like Leon Goretzka’s future in Bavaria is far from certain. The latest update from Germany doesn’t sound promising for Goretzka’s chances of playing in Bavaria next season.
According to TZ (via iMiaSanMia), Bayern is not against parting ways with Leon Goretzka if a suitable offer arrives. The German international will not be an undisputed starter next season like he has been in the past three campaigns.
TZ reveals that the departure of Hasan Salihamidzic weakens Goretzka’s position at the club. The former sporting director enjoyed a strong bond with the player. Moreover, Thomas Tuchel and club chiefs are reportedly not entirely convinced by the midfield pairing of Joshua Kimmich and Leon Goretzka.
Kimmich will be an undisputed starter for Tuchel next season, so his place in the starting XI is safe. Several reports in Germany have suggested that Bayern and Tuchel want to sign a robust defensive midfielder to play Kimmich in the number eight position. Meanwhile, Goretzka will have to fight for a place in the starting XI next season.
Leon Goretzka has already made it clear that he sees himself in Munich next season. However, things may change quickly if Bayern receives a significant bid for the German midfielder. Goretzka may have to look for a move if Tuchel and Die Roten tell him that he is not part of their plans for next season.
Despite several valid reasons to consider Goretzka’s situation to be uncertain at Die Roten, there are a couple of midfielders that could be out of the door before him. Marcel Sabitzer is expected to leave Bayern permanently, while Ryan Gravenberch will explore a transfer if he doesn’t get assurances over game time.

In all likelihood, Goretzka will be in Bayern’s squad for the first competitive game of the season. However, he will no longer enjoy certainty in the starting XI. Goretzka will have to fight for a place in the team. The German midfielder will have to get back to his best to give Thomas Tuchel the necessary selection dilemma.
