It has been a crucial week for Bayern Munich in terms of their transfer plans this summer. The Bavarian club made a first formal bid for Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane on Tuesday. The North London club has rejected the bid, but Die Roten is expected to return with an improved offer.

Kane emerged as the top target for Bayern during the meeting between the club chiefs on Monday. The English striker has only 12 months left on his contract at Spurs, which makes him an attractive option for all big clubs that are looking for a striker.

Thomas Tuchel is playing a crucial role in convincing Harry Kane to consider a move to Bavaria. According to The Athletic, Thomas Tuchel held productive talks with Kane. The English forward is fine with moving to Munich after getting an overview of Tuchel’s plans for him at the club.

SportBild’s Christian Falk has revealed that Bayern has a complete agreement with Kane over personal terms. The English forward has firmly opened the door to joining Die Roten despite previous reports suggesting that he will stay in the Premier League to become the all-time top scorer of the division.

Bayern has completed the easier part of the deal. The most difficult and crucial aspect of this deal is to convince Spurs chairman Daniel Levy to sell Kane in this window. Despite Kane’s contract situation at Spurs, Levy is reluctant to part ways with the forward. The English media outlets confirmed Levy’s stance on Kane’s transfer on Tuesday after Die Roten made their first bid.

The Bavarian club’s first bid was close to €70 million without add-ons. Die Roten will have to pay over €100 million to turn Levy’s head about selling Kane. If Kane seals a move to Munich, it is likely to be for a record bid at Bayern. It remains to be seen what will be Die Roten’s improved bid for the England international.

Bayern should be wary of the long-drawn saga for Kane. Under Levy’s tenure, Spurs had previously sold Luka Modric and Gareth Bale for significant fees to clubs outside the Premier League. However, both these deals were concluded at the end of summer transfer windows. Die Roten is known for doing early business, but they might be open to playing the waiting game if there is a strong chance of signing Kane.

Thomas Tuchel has done his part to sign Kane. It is now on Bayern’s negotiators to broker a deal with Spurs. Manchester United may also make a move for him if Spurs are open to selling him. Die Roten has taken positive steps this week to get a world-class striker this summer, but there is a long way to go.
