Bayern Munich wants to bolster the attack this summer by signing a new number nine. After completing the signings of Konrad Laimer and Raphael Guerreiro, Bayern has stepped up their search for a new striker. Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane has emerged as the top target for the Bavarian club.

According to The Athletic, Bayern Munich has submitted an offer worth €70 million plus add-ons for Kane. The English forward has 12 months left on his contract. Die Roten has made Kane one of their priorities for the summer transfer window.

The report from The Athletic has been confirmed by other English outlets, while SportBild and Sky Sports in Germany have also reported Die Roten’s first bid for the English forward. Spurs have rejected the bid as they want to keep hold of the club’s all-time top scorer for next season.

Meanwhile, Daily Mail has reported that Harry Kane is open to joining Bayern this summer. The Daily Telegraph has also confirmed that Kane believes it is the right time for him to move on from Spurs to win big trophies. It remains to be seen if Spurs chairman Daniel Levy will cave in and eventually sell Kane this summer.

SportBild’s Christian Falk is reporting that Spurs will look for €100 million from Bayern for Kane. Manchester United has also been heavily linked with a move for Kane, but Levy is not keen on selling the 29-year-old to a domestic rival. Levy had rejected big offers from Manchester City two years ago for Kane.

Bayern does have a free run at Kane, but this transfer is going to be difficult to get over the line. Spurs have previously sold players like Gareth Bale and Luka Modric outside Premier League, but those transfers were concluded late in the transfer window. The Bavarian club will have to think about their next move after the first bid was rejected.

Kane scored 30 goals for Spurs in the Premier League. He ended up second in the race for Premier League’s golden boot behind Manchester City’s Erling Haaland. Along with being a prolific goalscorer, the English striker is also very creative when he drops deep to collect the ball. His linkup play with wide player Son Heung-min has been very productive for Spurs.

It will be intriguing to see if Kane will put in a transfer request at Spurs to seal a move to Bayern. The English forward will have several options on the table next summer if he doesn’t sign a contract extension at Spurs. The next few weeks could see intense negotiations across three parties to make this transfer happen this summer instead of next year.
