Bayern Munich interested in signing Kyle Walker
The ongoing summer transfer window is set to see some crucial changes in the defensive area of the first-team squad at Bayern Munich. The Bavarian club has already reached an agreement with Raphael Guerreiro to join the club after his contract expires at Borussia Dortmund at the end of June.
Guerreiro will replace Joao Cancelo in the squad at Die Roten. The Bundesliga champions decided against taking up the option to sign Cancelo permanently from Manchester City. Bayern will need more defensive reinforcements since Benjamin Pavard and Lucas Hernandez want to leave Bavaria this summer.
Die Roten may have to hold talks with Manchester City to improve the defense. This time around, it will be for a much more senior player than Cancelo. According to Sky Sports in Germany, Bayern has Kyle Walker on the shortlist for defensive signings. The Bavarian club is yet to open talks with the player and English club.
Sport1 has also confirmed Bayern’s interest in Walker. The German media outlet also reports that initial conversations have taken place with the English defender. Thomas Tuchel is open to adding Walker to the squad to add more experience. Walker is also open to a new adventure after winning the treble with Manchester City.
The Athletic in England also reported that Bayern is working on a deal to sign Walker from Man City. The English defender should be open to joining Bayern as long as the numbers stack up for both clubs. Walker currently has one year left on his contract at Manchester City.
Walker will come in as a replacement for Benjamin Pavard. The English defender has played in the right-back position for most of his career. He boasts a significant pace that allows him to keep up with wide forwards and also provide the thrust in the final third. The English defender has fine-tuned his ability on the ball after playing under Pep Guardiola at Man City for six years.
Along with playing in the right-back position, Walker can also provide cover in the center-back position. He has played on the right side of a back three for England and Manchester City on several occasions. Pavard also provided similar cover in two positions.

The English defender also brings a wealth of winning experience to the squad after enjoying significant success at Man City. Walker will be a good stop-gap signing from Die Roten to replace Pavard this summer. They can look for a long-term replacement in the next summer transfer window.
