Bayern Munich is set to make changes to the midfield department during the summer transfer window. They completed the signing of Konrad Laimer from RB Leipzig on Friday. Laimer joins Bayern on a free transfer after missing out on the move to Bavaria in the last summer transfer window.

Along with Laimer, Bayern is also looking to add more steel to the midfield department by signing a defensive midfielder. The record Bundesliga champions plan to bring in a defensive midfielder that will partner Joshua Kimmich in the center of the park. The German midfielder will move further up the pitch, slotting in the number eight position.

The arrival of two midfielders will pave the departure of fringe midfielders from the squad. Marcel Sabitzer is expected to leave Die Roten. The Austrian midfielder had a decent loan spell at Manchester United during the second half of the season. Die Roten would hope to get good offers for him in the summer.

Apart from Sabitzer, SportBild (viaiMiaSanMia) is reporting that Ryan Gravenberch could become a candidate for an exit at Bayern. The Bavarian club was not keen on selling Gravenberch, but the departure of Hasan Salihamidzic may lead to a complete turnaround. Thomas Tuchel will have a decision to make on the Dutch midfielder’s future.

Ryan Gravenberch has been subject to strong interest from Liverpool. The Merseyside club has reportedly held preliminary talks with representatives of the Dutch midfielder. Gravenberch is also open to joining the English side after struggling for game time in his debut season at Die Roten.

There is likely to be interest from other clubs if Bayern decides to put Gravenberch on the market. He is one of the best young midfield talents in Europe. The 21-year-old midfielder would hope to get back on track next season by playing regularly.

Gravenberch has been dropped from the Dutch national team in the past 12 months after struggling to get regular playing time at Die Roten. He was not part of the Dutch squad in the World Cup 2022. With Euros taking place in the summer of 2024, Gravenberch will push for a transfer in the next couple of months if he is not getting assurances over game time.

The Dutch midfielder’s departure from Bayern may take place late in the summer. He will be playing for the Dutch squad in U21 Euros. After the end of the tournament in July, Die Roten may sit down with Gravenberch to assess options regarding his future.
