Bayern Munich has got the ball rolling for the summer transfer window as they are close to completing a deal for Raphael Guerreiro. The Portuguese full-back will be joining on a free transfer from Borussia Dortmund. Bayern has also completed a deal for RB Leipzig’s Konrad Laimer on a free transfer.

Both players are expected to make the move official in the coming days. Die Roten has a lot of transfer activity left in the window as they look to strengthen the attack and midfield. They will have to sign a central defender if Lucas Hernandez and Benjamin Pavard end up leaving the club.

The Bavarian club is going to operate during the summer transfer window without a sporting director. The likes of Uli Hoeness, Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, and Jan-Christian Dressen will be working with Thomas Tuchel to get deals over the line. Die Roten wants to bring in a new sporting director after Hasan Salihamidzic was sacked at the end of the season.

RB Leipzig’s Max Eberl has been heavily linked with the vacant role of sporting director at Bayern. He was one of the top targets for Die Roten in 2017, but they ended up appointing Salihamidzic. Eberl is back on Rekordmeister’s radar, but they may have to wait for a few months to get their man.

According toSportBild, Eberl has reached an agreement with RB Leipzig to stay with the club for the summer transfer window. A move to Bavaria can take place at the end of the window in September. Leipzig had previously insisted that Eberl was not going anywhere after signing a deal in December 2022.

Bayern is also in no rush to appoint a new sporting director since the primary focus for them is to provide Thomas Tuchel with necessary additions to the squad for next season. The Bavarian club can extensively work on getting a sporting director once the summer transfer window comes to an end in September.

Apart from Max Eberl, Die Roten has also been heavily linked with Eintracht Frankfurt’s Markus Krosche. However, Frankfurt and Krosche have insisted that he will not be leaving in the summer. It remains to be seen if this stance changes after an official approach from Die Roten.

For now, Bayern will firmly turn their attention to signing a striker and holding midfielder. They have reportedly identified Juventus forward Dusan Vlahovic and West Ham’s Declan Rice as top targets for the summer. It will be interesting to see how Die Roten approaches negotiations for both players since they are tricky deals to execute.
