After the conclusion of the annual general meeting this week at Bayern Munich, the attention will switch towards the transfer business. Thomas Tuchel was spotted at Sabner Strasse on Wednesday as Die Roten started working on addressing key areas in the squad.

The Bavarian club has made signing a holding midfielder top of their priorities for this summer. Tuchel reportedly wants a robust number six that can shield the back four and has a good passing range to keep the things ticking in the center of the park. West Ham United’s Declan Rice has emerged as the top target for Die Roten in this position.

The latest update from England is not promising for Bayern in their pursuit of signing Rice. According to Daily Mail, Declan Rice will reject a move to Bayern as he wants to continue playing in the Premier League. The English midfielder had previously held talks with Die Roten and Thomas Tuchel.

Rice has been heavily linked with a move to Arsenal. The North London side is expected to make an offer after West Ham’s season comes to an end next week. Daily Mail also reports that Manchester United also has a concrete interest in the English midfielder. West Ham United will look to get a nine-figure fee for Rice.

Die Roten may have to look at other options to add quality to the holding midfield position. Tuchel will be disappointed with this outcome, as German media have suggested that he rates Rice very highly and considers him a top-quality addition to the current squad.

Bayern is also out of the race for Chelsea’s Mateo Kovacic. The Croatian midfielder has his heart set on a move to Manchester City. As per The Athletic in England, Chelsea has given Manchester City permission to negotiate with Kovacic. The two clubs will eventually reach an agreement on the transfer fee.

Rekordmeister will have to think out of the box to add quality in this position after missing out on the top target. They were previously linked with Ajax midfielder Edson Alvarez but decided against making a bid for him. The Mexican midfielder is expected to join Borussia Dortmund in the summer.

The next few days will give more clarity on what happens with Bayern’s pursuit of Rice. The English midfielder will be leading West Ham United next week against Fiorentina in Europa Conference League final. If the English midfielder remains determined to play in the Premier League, Die Roten will have to move quickly and find the right alternative for him.
