Bayern Munich succumbed to a new low on Saturday in their disappointing season. The defending Bundesliga champions surrendered advantage in the title race to Borussia Dortmund by suffering a 3-1 defeat against RB Leipzig. As things stand, Bayern Munich is bound to have their first trophyless season in more than a decade.

Die Roten endured disappointment in the quarter-final stages of the DFB Pokal and Champions League. They were knocked out by Manchester City in the Champions League, while Freiburg had knocked them out from DFB Pokal at Allianz Arena.

The inconsistency in the Bundesliga has seen them surrender points from a position of strength. All these poor results were not expected by the club chiefs after they decided to sack Julian Nagelsmann at the end of March. Thomas Tuchel was appointed as the new head coach to make sure that sporting targets for the club this season were met.

However, things have not gone as per plan for Bayern after the appointment of Tuchel. The failures on the pitch do raise concerns over the decisions made by the club. According to Sport1, Joshua Kimmich has been concerned about the sporting developments at Bayern this season.

The German midfielder was taken aback by the club’s decision to sack Julian Nagelsmann. He has hoped to get some sort of continuity in the coaching situation at the club. Kimmich has no problems with Thomas Tuchel, but going trophyless for the first time since joining Bayern has raised concerns in his mind about the sporting developments at the club.

Kimmich’s concerns are most likely shared by the entire fanbase. The decision-making from the club chiefs is going to be under scanner due to poor results on the pitch. Nagelsmann was far from perfect this season, but maybe some sort of coaching continuity would have been better for the squad. Moreover, the German coach had done a fine job in the cup competitions this season.

The Bavarian faithful doesn’t have to worry about Kimmich’s future despite his doubts about the project at the club. Sport1 insists that Bayern will not entertain offers for Kimmich in the summer despite interest from Real Madrid and Barcelona.

Kimmich’s current deal expires in 2025. Bayern is expected to hold talks with him over a new deal during next season. The German midfielder will most likely need some assurances over the project at the club before signing another long-term deal.
