The last few years have seen Bayern Munich spend heavily to strengthen the first-team squad. Along with signing established players, the Bavarian club has also made sure that they snap up the best upcoming young talent. The signings of Alphonso Davies and Jamal Musiala are the success stories of the transfer policy of Die Roten.

Bayern seems to have identified another young player that may become a key member of the first team in the future. According to Bein Sports in Australia, Bayern is close to finalizing a deal to sign Nestory Irankunda from Adelaide United.

The 17-year-old forward will command a significant fee, including add-ons. Bayern is set to loan him back to Adelaide United for the next season to aid his development. Irankunda is viewed as a project player like Alphonso Davies by Die Roten’s technical director Marco Neppe.

Irankunda has been in fine form for Adelaide United this season. He primarily plays on the left flank for the Australian club. The teenager has scored eight goals for Adelaide United in the A-League. He will get regular first-team football next season before moving to Munich at the start of the 2024/25 season.

Bayern made sure that Davies was integrated into the first team as soon as he arrived from Vancouver Whitecaps in 2019. The Bavarian club is likely to use a similar plan for Irankunda when he eventually arrives from Australia. There is significant competition in the wide areas, so Irankunda may have to be patient with opportunities at Bayern.

Meanwhile, Die Roten’s immediate area to address in the first team is the number nine position. The Bavarian club is expected to spend significant money in the summer to sign a striker that can fill the void left by Robert Lewandowski. The Polish striker joined FC Barcelona last summer after spending eight seasons in Bavaria.

Apart from signing a number nine, Rekordmeister may also try to sign a midfielder in the summer. Thomas Tuchel is reportedly looking for a number six that is technically sound in possession. Chelsea’s Matteo Kovacic has been touted as one of the potential targets for the Bavarian club. Die Roten will also have to make a decision on the future of Joao Cancelo. The Portuguese full-back is currently on loan from Manchester City. Bayern has the option to sign him permanently for €70 million, but they are expected to renegotiate a fee for the 28-year-old full-back if Tuchel wants him to stay in Bavaria.
