The Bundesliga title race took a significant turn last weekend as Bayern Munich regained the top spot with the win against Hertha Berlin. Borussia Dortmund surrendered the one-point lead with a draw against Bochum. Bayern will look to strengthen their place at the top when they travel to Werder Bremen on Saturday.

After the defeat against Mainz two weeks ago, Thomas Tuchel got the desired response from the team against Hertha Berlin last weekend. It was a much more controlled performance from Die Roten across all parts of the pitch. They will have to maintain the same intensity in the remaining league games to retain the title. Let us look at the possible starting XI that Thomas Tuchel can use against Werder Bremen to get all three points.

Team News

Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting remains on the sidelines as he continues to recover from a knee issue. Leon Goretzka is suspended for the game against Werder Bremen due to the accumulation of yellow cards in the Bundesliga.

Dayot Upamecano has started training on the pitch, but the game against Werder Bremen comes early for the French defender. Thomas Tuchel has also ruled Josip Stansic out for Saturday’s game due to an adductor strain. Alphonso Davies, Manuel Neuer, and Lucas Hernandez are the other injury absentees for Bayern.

Predicted Starting XI

Yann Sommer bounced back from his torrid performance against Mainz with a solid outing against Hertha. The Swiss goalkeeper will look to make it two clean sheets in a row for Bayern on Saturday when Die Roten travel to Werder Bremen.

Benjamin Pavard is expected to play in central defense for the remainder of the Bundesliga campaign. The French defender will partner Matthijs de Ligt in the heart of defense on Saturday. Joao Cancelo and Noussair Mazraoui will slot in the full-back positions against Werder Bremen.

Joshua Kimmich will have a new midfield partner on Saturday since Goretzka has been suspended for this game. Tuchel is expected to hand a start to Ryan Gravenberch in the central midfield after the Dutchman’s impressive cameo against Hertha Berlin. It will be Gravenberch’s second Bundesliga start of the season.
