Bayern Munich is entering the final phase of the Bundesliga under severe pressure due to results over the last few weeks. They capitulated in the second half against Mainz last weekend to suffer a 3-1 defeat. Bayern needs to bounce back strongly when they host Hertha Berlin on Sunday.

The gameweek 30 has started well for Bayern since Borussia Dortmund dropped two points against VfL Bochum on Friday. Rekordmeister can go back to the summit of the Bundesliga by beating the struggling Hertha side on Sunday. Let us look at the possible starting XI for Bayern on Sunday.

Team News

Bayern suffered an injury blow this week as Dayot Upamecano has been ruled out for at least two weeks due to a hamstring strain. The French defender will not feature against Hertha Berlin. Alphonso Davies has most likely played his last game of this season after suffering a serious injury against Mainz.

Thomas Tuchel has also confirmed that Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting has been ruled out for the game against Hertha due to an injury. The 34-year-old striker has struggled for fitness in the past few weeks. Leon Goretzka and Kingsley Coman suffered knocks in training this week, but both are fit for Sunday. Manuel Neuer and Lucas Hernandez are the long-term absentees for Die Roten.

Predicted Starting XI

Yann Sommer will continue in the goal against Hertha Berlin. The Swiss goalkeeper had a match to forget against Mainz, as his mistakes turned out to be costly for Die Roten. Sommer will look to bounce back strongly on Sunday by keeping a clean sheet.

Upamecano’s injury will make sure that Benjamin Pavard and Matthijs de Ligt will start in the heart of defense against Hertha. Pavard has done well throughout Ruckrunde in central defense, so he will look to maintain this record on Sunday. Noussair Mazraoui will get his first start after months in the right-back position, while Joao Cancelo will slot in the left-back position.

Thomas Tuchel is reportedly not pleased with the midfield combination of Joshua Kimmich and Leon Goretzka. The German coach will get a chance to address this issue in the summer. He will have to bank on the German midfield duo to do the job for the remaining five league games of the season unless Ryan Gravenberch gets a run in the team.

Sadio Mane delivered a decent performance against Mainz while leading the attack. The Senegalese forward is likely to keep his place in the starting XI. Leroy Sane and Kingsley Coman are expected to start on the flanks, while Jamal Musiala will slot in the number ten position behind Mane.
