The 2022/23 season is ending on a poor note for Bayern Munich. In the space of a few days, they were knocked out of DFB Pokal and the Champions League in the quarter-final. They are also involved in a tight Bundesliga title race with Borussia Dortmund. The change in head coach during the last international break has not helped Bayern to achieve their targets for the season.

The poor results across all competitions have also raised doubts over the future of senior players in the squad. The attack at Bayern was under more scrutiny in the past few weeks due to their poor finishing in crucial games.

According to AZ (via iMiaSanMia), Bayern has identified Sadio Mane and Serge Gnabry as the two potential departures for the summer window. Both forwards have struggled for form in the second half of the season. It does look like Bayern is expected to be ruthless in the summer.

Mane had a decent start to life at Bayern, but the serious injury in November hampered his season. He has failed to show his best form since returning from a three-month-long injury layoff at the end of February. The Senegalese forward has scored only two goals for Bayern in the last six weeks.

It will be an incredible decision from Bayern to part ways with Mane after one season. However, the wages of Mane are significant, so it is understandable for Bayern to consider his departure if they want to sign a prolific number nine in the summer.

Meanwhile, Gnabry has looked like a shadow of himself at Bayern in the past few weeks. The German forward delivered an atrocious performance against Manchester City in the first leg. Gnabry’s numbers in the final third have taken a big hit during Ruckrunde. The last couple of seasons has been very inconsistent for the former Arsenal forward.

Despite his inconsistency, Bayern always considered Gnabry as part of their long-term plans. The German forward was handed a new deal at the start of this season, but he has not kicked on this campaign. Gnabry has also lost a place in Bayern’s strongest starting XI, so it is not surprising to see the club weighing up his departure in the summer.

Gnabry and Mane have contributed 12 goals each for Bayern across all competitions. However, they have not been consistent with performances and scored in patches. Selling both will be a drastic step for Bayern, but seeing one of them leave in the summer will not be a big surprise.
