The last few days have seen several Chelsea players have been linked with a move to Bayern Munich due to the arrival of Thomas Tuchel in Bavaria. Tuchel was appointed as the new head coach of Die Roten over the last weekend. The German coach had a successful stint at Chelsea before leaving Stamford Bridge in September.

Chelsea’s Mason Mount has been credibly linked with a move to Bayern ever since Tuchel got the job in Bavaria. The English midfielder will enter the final year of his contract at the end of the current season. It does look like Mount will also like a move to Bavaria and work under Tuchel.

According to The Guardian, Mason Mount will be interested in working with Tuchel at Bayern. It remains to be seen how concrete Die Roten’s interest is in Mount. Tuchel is yet to discuss transfer plans with Bayern as he firmly focuses on ending the season strongly.

Bayern will face significant competition from Liverpool and Manchester United for Mount. The Guardian has also reported that Juventus is also interested in the English midfielder. Chelsea also remains hopeful about agreeing a new deal. They will have to reluctantly sell him if there is no agreement for a new deal before the end of the season.

It remains to be seen where Mason Mount will fit at Bayern. The Bavarian club has an ample amount of depth in the number eight and ten roles. Unless there is a big departure in this area during the summer window, signing Mount will not make sense for the record Bundesliga champions.

From a financial perspective, Bayern may not find a way to pay the fee that Chelsea would like for Mount. The Blues will hope to get £50 million for Mount in the summer despite his contract expiring at the end of the 2023/24 season. Bayern cannot afford to spend such kind of transfer fee for a position that they are well stacked with.

Die Roten has already strengthened the midfield department for next season. The Bavarian club is reportedly close to completing a deal for Konrad Laimer. The Austrian midfielder will join on a free transfer once his contract at RB Leipzig expires in June. Tuchel will also have the decision to make on Marcel Sabitzer when he returns from his loan spell at Manchester United. Adding another midfielder to the squad will be the last thing for Bayern to think about in the summer.
