The last week was eventful for new Bayern Munich head coach Thomas Tuchel. The German coach has been enjoying a break from football after parting ways with Chelsea in September. He was expected to be on the shortlist of clubs such as Tottenham Hotspur, Real Madrid, and PSG in the summer. In a normal scenario, he would have ended up at a new club in June.

However, a strange turn of events has seen Tuchel ending up at Bayern Munich. The Bavarian club contacted the German coach last Tuesday with the view of becoming the head coach. Things moved quickly once Bayern reached an agreement for a 2.5-year deal with Tuchel.

Die Roten confirmed the departure of Julian Nagelsmann on Friday. The former Hoffenheim boss left Bavaria after spending less than two seasons at the club. Tuchel was unveiled at Allianz Arena in front of the media on Saturday. He took his first training session at Sabner Strasse on Tuesday.

The opportunity to lead Bayern is fantastic for Die Roten since he will be working with world-class players to achieve the target of winning big trophies. The role at Die Roten is much more suitable for Tuchel since he will be working with players that he previously wanted at Chelsea and PSG.

According to Bild, Tuchel wanted to sign Matthijs de Ligt and Benjamin Pavard at Chelsea last summer. Chelsea did try to sign de Ligt, but Bayern moved more decisively and sealed the deal. Meanwhile, Pavard was also heavily linked with a move to Stamford Bridge, but Julian Nagelsmann convinced him to stay in Munich.

Sadio Mane is also looking forward to working under Tuchel. The German coach was reportedly interested in signing Mane during his time at Chelsea and PSG. Tuchel is also determined to get the best out of Leroy Sane. The German winger has recently suffered a dip in performances.

The other areas of the squad are also littered with world-class players. Tuchel is probably going to work with the most balanced squad of his career. He will also get to work with top German talent at Bayern. With more additions likely to come in the summer, Thomas Tuchel will be pleased after landing this job at the right time.

The German coach will also be under pressure to hit the ground running. He made an instant impact at Chelsea, winning the Champions League in the first season. Bayern chiefs will also hope for similar results with the current squad. Tuchel will begin his Bayern stint with Der Klassiker on Saturday.
