The first training session under Thomas Tuchel at Bayern Munich on Tuesday had one significant moment. Tuchel was spotted holding a long discussion with Leroy Sane. The German winger was not part of the national team, so he has been training at Sabner Strasse since the start of the week.
According to Sport1, Tuchel is eager to get the best out of Leroy Sane at Bayern in the next couple of months. The German coach believes that Sane has a big role to play in the final phase of the season. Sane may get the nod for a place in the starting XI on Saturday against Borussia Dortmund.
It has been an inconsistent season for Leroy Sane. He has been good on the pitch for patches, which has been a big issue for him since joining the club two years ago. Sane can be out of the world on one weekend and end up delivering a lethargic performance in the next game.
Despite an average season this year, Sane has produced good numbers in terms of goals and assists across all competitions. He has scored 13 goals in 31 games this season. The former Manchester City winger has been particularly impressive in the Champions League, scoring four goals in six appearances.
Tuchel’s biggest challenge is to make sure Sane’s lowest performance level for the team is still a 7/10 outing. Making him a consistent player will help Die Roten significantly in the upcoming run of games. In an ideal scenario, Tuchel also helps Sane to add more goals and assists to his game.
It will be interesting to see which position Sane is given under Tuchel. He was largely used in central areas by Julian Nagelsmann. Sane has struggled on flanks but shone centrally in a hybrid number ten role. He often started on the left flank but occupied central zones in the final third to great effect.

Apart from Sane, Tuchel also needs to get the best out of other underfiring forwards. Serge Gnabry and Sadio Mane are also struggling for form. The Senegalese forward is looking forward to working under Tuchel after a disappointing past few weeks.
Having several players in good form will make Bayern an even more dangerous team in the Champions League. They will have to be at their best to beat Manchester City in the quarter-finals. The road to the final in Istanbul is challenging as they will face Real Madrid/Chelsea in the semi-final. Meanwhile, they will face Freiburg next week in the quarter-finals of the DFB Pokal. Tuchel made an instant impact at Chelsea, so Bayern chiefs will hope for a similar outcome when it comes to winning games and getting the best out of key players.
