Bayern Munich closely following Gavi’s situation at Barcelona
The winter transfer window has shown that Bayern Munich is always ready to react if a big opportunity arises in the market. They acted quickly in the final week of January when it was clear that Joao Cancelo would leave Manchester City. The Portuguese full-back arrived in Bavaria on loan with an option to buy.
The record Bundesliga champions will remain active in a similar way during the summer transfer window. It does look like they are keeping a close eye on the situation of a young midfielder at FC Barcelona.
According to Sky Sports in Germany, Bayern is very attentive to the situation of Gavi at FC Barcelona. The Spanish club has struggled to register Gavi’s contract renewal. If Barcelona fails to register him in the summer, Gavi could walk away on a free transfer due to the contract registration issue.
As per Sport in Spain, Gavi and Barcelona remain hopeful about resolving the contract situation in the summer. The Bavarian club may make a move if they get a clear indication that Barcelona will not be able to Gavi’s new contract.
The report in Sport also confirms that Bayern has always been interested in Gavi. The Spanish midfielder’s entourage had held talks with Die Roten before signing a new deal at FC Barcelona. He remains eager to enjoy individual and collective success at FC Barcelona in the long run.
Bayern currently has enough depth in the midfield department, but they will surely make space for a player like Gavi if the opportunity arises. The Spaniard is considered one of the best midfielders in his age group. He is a crucial player for Barcelona at the age of 18. The youngster is also playing regularly for the Spanish national team.
Meanwhile, Die Roten is working on a deal to complete a deal for Korad Laimer. The Austrian midfielder will arrive in Bavaria on a free transfer. Bayern tried to sign him in the summer, but RB Leipzig had no plan to part ways with Laimer and rejected three bids for him.

If Gavi ends up signing for Die Roten, it will bring up curtains on Ryan Gravenberch’s career in Bavaria. The Dutch midfielder has struggled for playing time in his debut season at Bayern. Things will get more difficult for Gravenberch if Die Roten ends up signing two midfielders in the summer. Meanwhile, Marcel Sabitzer is also expected to leave Bayern in the summer. The Austrian midfielder is currently enjoying a productive loan spell at Manchester United.
