Things will be different at Sabner Strasse this week as Bayern Munich starts life under Thomas Tuchel. The German coach was unveiled as the new head coach of the first team in front of the press on Saturday. Tuchel was appointed after the departure of Julian Nagelsmann on Friday.

Bayern acted decisively last week to make a change after the 2-1 defeat against Bayer Leverkusen. The club chiefs did a thorough analysis last Monday and concluded that they needed to act quickly to protect the sporting targets of the current campaign.

Die Roten had to quickly arrange a meeting with Tuchel to hold talks regarding the contract and plans under him. If the Bavarian club had delayed talks with Tuchel until summer, they may have lost the chance of getting him. He had already lined up discussions with one big Premier League club.

According to Kicker (via iMiaSanMia), Tuchel was expected to hold talks with Tottenham Hotspur during the international break. He was expected to travel to London on Tuesday but Bayern made their move first. The North London side will be looking for a new coach after parting ways with Antonio Conte on Sunday. Tuchel would have been the favourite to replace Conte due to his coaching pedigree and Premier League experience.

Spurs didn’t get a chance to hold talks with Thomas Tuchel as Bayern made first contact with him on Tuesday. Talks accelerated between both parties, and news leaked on Thursday evening that Thomas Tuchel is set to succeed Nagelsmann at one of the biggest clubs in Europe.

It does look like Julian Nagelsmann may now become a serious contender for the Spurs job. The English club will look to get a new manager before the start of summer. The Times has already reported that Spurs are ready to open talks with Nagelsmann. It remains to be seen if the former Bayern head coach is ready to return to the management immediately after a disappointing end in Bavaria.

Meanwhile, Bayern is looking to assemble the desired backroom staff for Thomas Tuchel. The German coach wants to bring Anthony Barry from Chelsea. The young English coach worked with Tuchel at Chelsea. The Daily Telegraph reported on Sunday that Die Roten had approached Chelsea to sign Barry. The 36-year-old coach is also interested in reuniting with Tuchel in Bavaria.

Tuchel will look to start life as Bayern coach with a victory over his former club Borussia Dortmund. The game against Dortmund is crucial since Die Roten is trailing their arch-rivals by one point in the title race. The German coach will have the entire squad available for training later this week when international games are over.
