The project Julian Nagelsmann has been an expensive affair for Bayern Munich. The Bavarian club paid a record fee worth €25 million to sign him from RB Leipzig in 2021. Nagelsmann had signed a five-year deal at Bayern, but he had to leave the club 18 months into this contract due to inconsistency in the team’s performances.

Bayern has released Nagelsmann and his staff, so they can still recoup some sort of fee before the end of the season, as per Bild. If any other club decides to appoint Nagelsmann before the end of the season, then Bayern can demand compensation for him.

It remains to be seen if Nagelsmann will be open to getting back into football management so quickly. The German coach was taken back after Bayern’s decision, so he may need some time to digest the recent events and take up a new role at another club.

Tottenham Hotspur can become a viable option for Nagelsmann. The North London side parted ways with Antonio Conte on Sunday and appointed Cristian Stellini as the interim manager for the last ten games of the season. Some reports in England have already confirmed that Spurs are expected to hold talks with Nagelsmann. However, he may not become the new head coach of Spurs before the end of the season.

Apart from Spurs, Real Madrid may also become an option for Nagelsmann in the summer. The Spanish club will have to look for a new head coach if Carlo Ancelotti leaves at the end of the season. The Italian head coach has been touted to become the head coach of the Brazilian national team. Paris Saint-Germain is another possible destination for the 36-year-old German coach. The French club may part ways with Christophe Galtier in the summer after another disappointing exit from the Champions League.

Despite the disappointing spell at Bayern, Nagelsmann will have several good options in Europe. The difficult time at Die Roten may help Nagelsmann to become an even better coach. He is still a relatively very young coach and has a long career ahead of him.

From a financial perspective, Bayern will hope to get some sort of fee for Nagelsmann if he makes a swift return to football management. It is highly unlikely that they will get this wish fulfilled since the season will end in two months. The club chiefs will hopefully learn a lesson from this whole episode and improve their decision-making in the future.
