It has been an eventful international break for Bayern Munich until now. Most of the senior players have been away with the national teams, while a few key players have stayed in Munich to continue recovery from respective injuries.

Jamal Musiala had to withdraw from the German squad on Monday after suffering a hamstring strain against Bayer Leverkusen. He was initially expected to miss next weekend’s game against Borussia Dortmund, but the recent developments are much more encouraging.

According to Bild, Jamal Musiala started running outdoors on Friday. The youngster had a brief session on the pitch at Sabner Strasse, which boosted his chances of making it to the squad against Borussia Dortmund. Musiala may not start against Dortmund, but Die Roten will be hoping to have him on the bench next Saturday.

Musiala has endured a dip in form since Bundesliga resumed in January, but he remains a key player for Bayern. The youngster remains Die Roten’s top scorer in the Bundesliga with 11 goals. His return will certainly benefit Bayern against their arch-rivals.

The game against Dortmund is crucial for Bayern in the context of the title race. The Bavarian club is one point behind Dortmund in the points table. A victory against Dortmund can form the springboard for a successful end to the league campaign.

Meanwhile, Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting is facing a race against time to be fit for the clash against Dortmund. The 34-year-old forward had to withdraw from the Cameroon squad due to a back injury. He is currently working on recovery from this injury in Munich.

Lucas Hernandez has been posting positive updates on his recovery from a cruciate ligament injury. The French defender ruptured the knee ligament against Australia at the start of the World Cup in November. He has started running on the pitch, which will boost his chances of making a return at the end of the season.

The former Atletico Madrid center-back is looking to make a return in the first week of June if Bayern reaches the finals of the DFB Pokal and Champions League. Meanwhile, Manuel Neuer is unlikely to play for Die Roten this season as he continues to recover from a broken leg.
