Defense

Bayern has been consistently investing in central defense over the last four summer transfer windows. The consistent investment has made sure that there has been a smooth transition in this area. The likes of David Alaba, Mats Hummels, Niklas Sule, and Jerome Boateng have left the club after enjoying significant success in Bavaria. Die Roten has spent heavily on younger defenders to enjoy short and long-term success.

Dayot Upamecano, Lucas Hernandez, Benjamin Pavard, and Matthijs de Ligt are a formidable group of central defenders at Bayern. The defensive quartet has the prime of their careers ahead of them, so Die Roten is well set in this position in the long term. Daley Blind has signed a six-month-long contract, but he remains a competitive option in the center-back position.

Alphonso Davies has established himself as one of the best left-backs in the world during the last three seasons. The Canadian will play for Die Roten in this role for at least a decade. The Bavarian club also has quality options on the right side of the defense in the form of Joao Cancelo and Noussair Mazraoui. Both of them can also play on the left. Along with having specialist defenders, Nagelsmann also has Josip Stanisic in the squad. The young Croatian defender can do a fine job in any position across the defense. Die Roten has the numbers and quality in the defensive department, which can help them to challenge across all fronts.
