Bayern Munich: Ryan Gravenberch subject to interest from Liverpool
The upcoming summer transfer window will see few changes in the midfield department at Bayern Munich. Leon Goretzka and Joshua Kimmich remain key players in this area, while Marcel Sabitzer may leave to make way for Konrad Laimer. Moreover, there is interest developing from Premier League in another Bayern midfielder.
According to Sport1 (via Sport Witness), Liverpool has shown significant interest in Ryan Gravenberch by initiating contact with his agents. The Merseyside club is keenly following the Dutch midfielder’s situation at Die Roten. The record Bundesliga champions want to keep Gravenberch, but lack of playing time may change his thinking in the summer.
Ryan Gravenberch has endured a difficult season at Bayern since arriving from Ajax in the summer. The Dutch midfielder rejected other top clubs in Europe in favour of a move to Bavaria. However, things have not gone as per plans for the 20-year-old central midfielder.
The former Ajax midfielder made his first Bundesliga start against Borussia Monchengladbach last Sunday. He couldn’t get adequate playing time at Die Roten during Hinrunde, which eventually led to his omission from the Dutch squad for World Cup 2022.
The young midfielder has expressed frustration over the lack of opportunities in Bavaria. However, Bayern officials have consistently insisted that Ryan Gravenberch is part of their long-term plan. They expect him to eventually play a pivotal role in the first team. It remains to be seen if Gravenberch is ready to remain patient if things don’t improve in the next few months.
Bayern has struggled to integrate young midfield talent into the first team over the past few seasons. Renato Sanches and Marc Roca didn’t get enough opportunities to show their talent in the first team. They eventually got back to their best after sealing a permanent move away from the club.
The consistency of Kimmich and Goretzka makes it difficult for young midfielders to break into Bayern’s starting XI. Ryan Gravenberch is one of the most promising midfield talents in Europe, so losing him in the summer will be a big blow for the club. Julian Nagelsmann and Die Roten need to find a way of giving him adequate playing time to keep him in Bavaria.

Meanwhile, Sabitzer is expected to make a decision on his future at Bayern in the summer. The Austrian midfielder has made a solid start to his loan spell at Manchester United. More clubs will show interest in him if he continues to excel for the Red Devils.
