Bayern Munich: Marcel Sabitzer will decide his future in summer
The upcoming summer transfer window will not see several departures at Bayern Munich. The Bavarian club is expected to sign at most three players, while a couple of senior players may leave. Marcel Sabitzer may feature on the list of departures at Die Roten in the summer.
The Austrian midfielder was linked with a move away from Bayern last summer after a poor debut season. However, he decided to stay and fight for a place on the team. Sabitzer started the season strongly as Julian Nagelsmann paired him with Joshua Kimmich in the center of the park.
The former RB Leipzig midfielder repaid the faith of Nagelsmann with impressive performances. However, the return of Leon Goretzka from a serious injury led to Sabitzer’s demotion to the bench. He ended up playing a handful of games after a good start to the season.
After coming on for just four minutes in three games at the start of 2023, Marcel Sabitzer decided to leave Die Roten for Manchester United on deadline day. He joined the Red Devils on a loan deal until the end of the season. Despite a strong start to life at Old Trafford, Sabitzer’s agent told Sport1 that no decision had been made on his future at Bayern.
"“We’re now seeing the Marcel of Leipzig again at Manchester United. I’m very happy for him. Marcel is a top player. It doesn’t surprise me at all that he’s performing so well so quickly (..) It was clear from the start that the Premier League was a great fit for him. What’s next in the summer? We’ll see when the time comes.”"
The English side wanted to sign Marcel Sabitzer after Christian Eriksen was ruled out until the start of May due to an ankle injury. Sabitzer has already featured in four Premier League games for United. He is expected to play a significant number of games for Manchester United by the end of the season, which will help him to get back to his best.
Bayern is expected to listen to offers for Sabitzer in the summer. He will be replaced by his compatriot- Konrad Laimer, in the first team. Laimer has reportedly agreed personal terms with Die Roten for a free transfer in June.
Considering the comments from Sabitzer’s agent, the midfielder may prefer a move to Premier League in the summer. The English top-flight football is ideal for him since he has the intensity to thrive in and out of possession. Manchester United may end up exploring a permanent deal for him if he delivers exceptional performances in the next couple of months.

Apart from Marcel Sabitzer, Benjamin Pavard may become the other major departure from Die Roten. The French defender may reportedly do a u-turn on his decision to leave Bavaria, but Bayern will consider offers for him if he refuses to sign a new contract before the end of the season.
