Bayern Munich will have a few changes in the midfield department of the senior squad during the summer transfer window. The Bavarian club has reportedly agreed to a deal with RB Leipzig’s Konrad Laimer to join as a free agent. One latest report from Spain suggests that one more midfielder is wanted by Bayern in the summer.

According to Relevo, Julian Nagelsmann has made Real Madrid midfielder Dani Ceballos a top transfer target for the summer transfer window. The Spanish midfielder has been performing well for Los Blancos this season, which has caught the eyes of Nagelsmann.

The report from the Spanish outlet also insists that Ceballos is firmly focused on succeeding at Real Madrid. Unless Real Madrid decides to sell Ceballos in the summer, a move to Bayern is looking unlikely. Meanwhile, Sport1’s Kerry Hau is reporting that Rekordmeister has no interest in signing the Spanish midfielder.

Ceballos was expected to leave Real Madrid for Real Betis last summer. He ended up staying at the club and significantly improved under Carlo Ancelotti. The Spain international is probably the most improved player for Real Madrid this season. He operates in a number eight role under Ancelotti, providing the link between the attack and defense. The recent improvement in his performances may earn him a place in the Spanish squad for international games in March.

Despite the quality of Dani Ceballos, signing him in the summer doesn’t make sense for Bayern. They already have two good options for this role in Ryan Gravenberch and Leon Goretzka. Moreover, Jamal Musiala can also operate in this position with great effect if needed. Laimer will also provide cover in this position from next season.

Marcel Sabitzer is expected to leave Bayern in the summer. The Austrian midfielder is currently on loan at Manchester United. He has enjoyed a positive start to his loan spell at Old Trafford. Since his playing time will decrease at Die Roten next season, he will look to get a permanent move to United or any other top club in Europe. Despite Sabitzer’s likely departure, Bayern does not need another midfielder since he will be making way for Konrad Laimer in the squad.

Signing another midfielder in the summer is unlikely to happen at Bayern. The Bavarian club will focus on strengthening the attack by signing a striker. They are also expected to renegotiate a fee with Manchester City for Joao Cancelo. It is more than likely that the upcoming summer window will be a quieter one for Die Roten than the last one.
