Bayern Munich may postpone signing of new striker
Bayern Munich has been linked with several strikers since the start of the season. Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane reportedly emerged as a top target after Die Roten held preliminary talks with his agents. However, the latest report in Germany suggests that Bayern may end up not signing a striker in the summer.
According to Sky Sports in Germany, Bayern’s chances of signing Kane are very slim. The Bavarian club will not be signing a striker for the sake of it. Die Roten’s focus is on extending the contract of Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting. The Cameroon international may end up being first choice number nine for next season.
The report from Sky Sports also reiterates that Die Roten is not interested in signing Kai Havertz from Chelsea. It does look like Bayern is pleased with the current options in the attack. The record Bundesliga champions may address other areas of the squad instead of focussing entirely on signing a striker.
Choupo-Moting’s recent form could have played a big role in Die Roten’s decision to shunt plans of signing a striker. The 33-year-old striker has five months left on his contract. The preliminary talks with Choupo-Moting’s forward over a contract extension have already taken place.
Moreover, reports in England have suggested that Kane is now open to signing a new contract at Spurs. The market for top-quality strikers is difficult, so it is understandable for Die Roten to wait for the right opportunity.
The Bavarian club is also pleased with the development of Mathys Tel. The French striker arrived in Munich for a significant fee last summer. The teenager has played as a wide forward under Julian Nagelsmann, but he can be developed into a striker after a few seasons.

The record Bundesliga champions have already lined up one deal for the summer transfer window. RB Leipzig’s Konrad Laimer will be joining the club on a free transfer. Die Roten wanted to strengthen the midfield last summer by signing Laimer, but Leipzig rejected all of their three bids. The Bavarian club has managed to beat competition from other big European clubs for Laimer’s signature on a free transfer.
Right-back will be another position to address in the summer if Benjamin Pavard ends up leaving the club. The French international is open to a new adventure, but Die Roten will still try to initiate talks for a contract extension. If he rejects offers from Rekordmeister, they will have to sell Pavard in the summer and sign a new right-back. All other positions in the squad seem to have enough quality and depth.
