Bayern Munich: French forward was offered before World Cup 2022
Ahead of the winter transfer window, Bayern Munich is expected to be linked with several forwards. The Bavarian club is expected to strengthen the attack in the summer window, but agents will still offer their clients to them during the winter market. In one such scenario, Die Roten had the chance to sign young forward that shone in the recently concluded World Cup 2022.
According to Sport1, Bayern was offered the chance to sign Eintracht Frankfurt forward Randal Kolo Muani. The Bavarian club can explore the move in the winter window, but this report insists that Frankfurt is eager to keep him. It will be a challenging round of negotiations with Frankfurt since the French forward’s contract expires in 2027.
Kolo Muani came off the bench for France in the semi-final to score the crucial second goal against Morocco. His introduction in the final against Argentina changed the game for the French team. He could have won the game for his country with a late goal, but Emiliano Martinez made a super save to deny him.
The French international primarily operates as a number nine. The 24-year-old forward has been in fine form since arriving at Frankfurt in the summer. He has scored eight goals for Frankfurt across all competitions. Besides being a good goalscorer, Kolo Muani also has nine league assists to his name this season.
Kolo Muani is an exciting talent, but he is too expensive for Die Roten to sign in January. His contract length gives Frankfurt enough leverage to ask for an outrageous fee. It will be a big surprise if Bayern decides to bid for him in January.
A summer move is plausible if Bayern fails to get their primary target in this position. Several German reports have confirmed that Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane is the top summer target for Bayern. The Bavarian club is working on this deal after reportedly holding preliminary talks with the English striker.
Apart from Kane, Die Roten has been heavily linked with Kolo Muani’s compatriot Marcus Thuram. The French forward has only six months left on his contract at Borussia Monchengladbach. Thuram is an attractive option for Bayern if they fail to get Kane since he will be available on a free transfer.

If moves for Kane and Thuram do not materialize, then it will be intriguing to see if Bayern makes a move for Kolo Muani. If he continues to excel for Frankfurt, there will be significant competition for his signature in the summer. For now, Bayern is focussing on resolving the issue of the goalkeeping department in January after Manuel Neuer was ruled out for the rest of the season.
