The last few days in the German media have been dominated by the injury of Manuel Neuer. The German skipper broke his leg during vacation, which has ruled him out for the second half of the season. Bayern Munich is now exploring the winter transfer market to find a goalkeeper.

The latest name to be linked with a move to Bavaria is Croatian international Dominik Livakovic. According to Sky Sports in Germany, Die Roten has initiated talks with Livakovic’s representatives to explore a transfer in January. The Croatian shot-stopper has a contract until 2024 with Dinamo Zagreb.

The 27-year-old shot-stopper has been in fine form for Croatia at the World Cup 2022. He made three penalty saves against Japan in the round of 16. Livakovic delivered an even bigger performance against Brazil by making several saves from open play. He eventually saved the crucial penalty of Rodrygo to help Croatia to book a place in the semi-final.

The strong performances of Livakovic with Croatia at the World Cup 2022 will definitely increase his evaluation. Zagreb can demand a significant fee in January. Sky Sports insists that Die Roten is yet to open talks with Zagreb as they continue to explore several goalkeeping options.

Signing Livakovic on a permanent deal will definitely bring an end to Alexander Nubel’s time at Bayern. The German goalkeeper is ready to leave the club permanently if he will not get consistent game time when he returns to Bavaria in the summer from a loan spell at Monaco.

Few reports in Germany have also suggested that Die Roten may end Nubel’s loan spell in January and give him a run in the first team during Ruckrunde. However, Nubel’s agents have insisted that Bayern is yet to contact him to explore such an arrangement with Monaco in the winter transfer window.

PSG shot-stopper Keylor Navas has also been linked with a move to Bayern. It remains to be seen if PSG will be open to strengthening a Champions League rival in January. Moreover, PSG will be facing Die Roten in the round of 16 of the Champions League this season.
