Jamal Musiala has been stealing the headlines for Bayern Munich this season for his prolific form in the final third. The youngster is deservedly getting plaudits for being one of the best players in the Bundesliga this season. His rise at Bayern has been astronomical, but there is another academy graduate in the first team that has improved this season.

Josip Stanisic has not been a mainstay in the team under Julian Nagelsmann, but he is turning out to be a very handy player to have in the squad. The Croatian defender has performed well in the ten appearances he has made across all competitions. Courtesy of his consistency, Die Roten has handed him another contract extension.

The Bavarian club confirmed on Saturday that Stanisic had signed a contract extension until 2026. This is Stanisic’s second contract extension since the start of the last season. He had penned a deal in October 2021 that was expiring in 2025. The Croatian has effectively signed a one-year extension.

Stanisic becomes a valuable player in the squad due to his versatility. He can play in both full-back positions. Nagelsmann has also used him in the center-back position for a small spell in one game this season. He is tidy on the ball and works hard off it.

There is still a lot to come from Josip Stanisic since he is just 22. With the right direction, he can firmly establish himself in the senior squad at Bayern. He has the ideal coach in Nagelsmann to work with since the German coach has enjoyed success in improving young players.

The Croatian international will be hoping to get more playing time as the season progresses. There will be fixture congestion after the World Cup, so Stanisic should end up with more opportunities in Ruckrunde.

The good performances at the club level have helped Josip Stanisic to break into the Croatian senior squad. He will play in the World Cup for Croatia later this month. Die Roten will be hoping that Stanisic continues to take big strides this season and vindicate their decision to give him a new deal.

Along with Stanisic, Bayern also extended the contract of Sven Ulreich this week. The German goalkeeper has his wish fulfilled of staying in Bavaria for one more season. The contract extension of Ulreich will also resolve the goalkeeping conundrum for next season. Die Roten will now look to extend the contracts of Benjamin Pavard and Lucas Hernandez.
