Benjamin Pavard was expected to leave Bayern Munich in the final month of the summer transfer window. However, Julian Nagelsmann managed to convince the defender to stay at the club. Die Roten also had no plans to cash in for Pavard in the summer, so the idea of transfer looked a far-fetched idea from the word go.

Pavard started the season on a strong note in the right-back position. Nagelsmann preferred him over Noussair Mazraoui in the right-back role. He has been delivering solid performances for Die Roten this season, but the French international is not exactly happy at the club right now.

According to Sport1, Pavard is frustrated with the lack of opportunities in the central defense. The former Stuttgart has consistently insisted that he sees himself as a central defender more than a right-back. Pavard is currently fourth choice center-back in the squad, with Dayot Upamecano, Lucas Hernandez, and Matthijs de Ligt ahead of him in the pecking order.

In the past couple of games, Mazraoui has started ahead of Pavard in the right-back position. With a serious competitor for him in the right-back position, Benjamin Pavard may contemplate a transfer away from Bavaria in the next summer transfer window.

Sport1 insists that Bayern is not exactly keen on extending Pavard’s contract, but previous reports in Germany have suggested that Die Roten wants to hold talks for a contract renewal. It will take an incredible turn of events to see Pavard in the Bavarian colours beyond the current campaign.

Bayern will have to cash in next summer as Benjamin Pavard enters the final 12 months of his current deal. He will not be short of offers since several big clubs in Europe showed interest in him during the last summer transfer window. Manchester United, Atletico Madrid, Chelsea, and Juventus were reportedly lining up a move for Pavard.

Die Roten may not have to sign a new right-back next summer to replace Pavard since Josip Stanisic can do a job in this role. The Croatian defender has been impressive for the first team in the limited opportunities this season. The next few months will give more clarity about Pavard’s long-term future in Munich.

Meanwhile, Bayern is eager to extend the contract of Lucas Hernandez. The French defender has been in fine form under Julian Nagelsmann. The Bavarian club has reportedly held positive talks with Hernandez, so a contract renewal may take place before the end of the season.
