The current first team at Bayern Munich has a strong core of German players. Jamal Musiala is the latest top German young talent to be successfully integrated into the first team over the last two years. He is currently one of the best U-20 talents in Europe, enjoying a terrific start to the season.
Bayern will continue to reinforce the squad with German players since it has been their long-term strategy that has consistently reaped the rewards. The next big German talent Die Roten is eager to sign is Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen.
According to SportBild’s Christian Falk (via iMiaSanMia), Bayern is eager to complete the signing of Wirtz whenever he decides to leave Bayer Leverkusen. The defending German champions do not want Wirtz to end up at one of their European rivals.
Falk also reveals that Bayern has already held talks with Wirtz through an intermediary. The youngster is keen on a move to Munich after hearing the club’s plans for him. It remains to be seen when Wirtz wants to leave Leverkusen. Bayern will definitely step up their efforts as soon as the player decides to leave Bay Arena.
Wirtz has delivered breath-taking performances for Leverkusen since making his senior debut at the age of 17 in 2020. The youngster has 13 goals and 16 assists to his name in 60 Bundesliga appearances for Leverkusen. He has already won four caps for Germany. If developed properly, Wirtz can go on to become a world-class player for the club and country.
The 19-year-old attacking midfielder has been on the sidelines since March due to a cruciate ligament injury. Wirtz may need some time to get back to his best after recovering from such a serious injury. The youngster will be hoping to get his rhythm back in Ruckrunde for Bayer Leverkusen.
Bayern will be eyeing a move for Wirtz in 2024. The youngster will be served well by staying in Leverkusen next season as he slowly gets back to his best. Leverkusen will be in a good position to demand a big transfer fee for him in 2024 since his current deal expires at the end of the 2026/27 campaign.

Funding a move for Wirtz next summer will be difficult for Bayern since they are targeting a move for Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane. The English forward will command a big fee despite having only one year left on his deal at Spurs. It will be intriguing to see how Die Roten manages things if both Kane and Wirtz are ready to join them next summer.
