After scoring loads of goals in the first three league games of the season, Bayern Munich has struggled to outscore the opposition in the last three Bundesliga games. The lack of goals against Monchengladbach, Stuttgart, and Union Berlin has further sparked the debate regarding the number nine role at Die Roten.
Bayern decided to go through a different process to replace Robert Lewandowski in the summer. The Polish striker sealed a move to Barcelona two months ago after enjoying a successful eight years in Bavaria. Die Roten completed transfers of Sadio Mane and Mathys Tel from Liverpool and Rennes, respectively, to replace Lewandowski.
Since the market for top-quality strikers was limited, Bayern and Julian Nagelsmann decided to use a fluid front four this season. The experiment worked brilliantly in the first four competitive games of the season, but it does have its limitations. Lack of a focal point in the attack may hurt Bayern in a few games this season, but they are expected to address this position next summer.
Going by reports in the past few weeks, Tottenham Hotspur forward Harry Kane has emerged as the top target for Die Roten in the next summer transfer window. According to Sky Sports’ Florian Plettenberg, Bayern has already held talks with Kane’s representatives. The English forward would also welcome a move to Bavaria next summer.
It will still take an enormous effort from Bayern to complete this move. Tottenham Hotspur is in the mood to lose their talisman. They maintained a tough stance regarding his future in 2021 when Manchester City had multiple bids rejected for Harry Kane.
Despite Spurs being tough negotiators, the contract situation of Kane will give Die Roten hopes about completing a deal. Kane will have only one year left on his current deal next summer if doesn’t sign a renewal during the current campaign. Despite his contract situation, Bayern will have to fork a big fee to sign one of the most prolific strikers in Europe.

Kane will be 30 next season, so he is likely to be a short-term replacement for Lewandowski. However, he can hit the ground running and play at the top level for four more years. Meanwhile, Mathys Tel can develop and eventually become the main man in the number nine role.
Bayern pulled off some unexpected deals last summer, so they can definitely work out a move for Kane. It will be a statement signing, but there are enough reasons for the Bavarian faithful to be cautiously optimistic about this move.
