After a convincing win against Inter Milan in the UEFA Champions League, Bayern Munich hosted VfB Stuttgart on Matchday 6 of the Bundesliga campaign. Bayern, coming off a fresh 2-0 win at the San Siro, were looking to end their streak of draws in Germany against a winless Stuttgart. In a much tougher challenge than anticipated, here are Bayern’s top performers in their 2-2  draw against Stuttgart.

Mathys Tel

Given the opportunity for his first Bundesliga start of the season, Mathys Tel rose to the occasion. Filling in the striker role, Tel was a problem for Stuttgart’s defense all game long. Not only did he score the game’s opening goal, but he also became Bayern’s youngest Bundesliga goalscorer at 17 years, four months, and 14 days. An impressive feat on its own.

This performance from Tel shows that he will be able to fill in as Bayern’s sole striker in no time at all. In his debut start, Mathys Tel showed glimpses of his talent which forced Die Roten to pay big money for him.

Jamal Musiala

Finding a familiar form, Jamal Musiala had both a masterful team and solo performance against Stuttgart. During the entire first half, Musiala flourished in the role of provider. Oftentimes taking the place of attacking midfielder, he successfully found the runs of Tel and Gnabry, picking apart the Stuttgart backline.

In the second half, Musiala capped off his performance with a beautiful finish in the 59th minute. After receiving the ball from Mazraoui, Musiala went past two defenders and fired a low-lying shot into the back of the net. Overall, yet another brilliant performance from the youngster Jamal Musiala.

Alphonso Davies

Alphonso Davies continued an excellent start to the season with another impressive performance against Stuttgart. His pace is unmatched against any player in the Bundesliga, allowing him to run rampant up the left side constantly.

Davies was a menace in the final third for the majority of the game. He showed great skill and pace to set up the goal for Tel in the first half. After beating his man on the left flank, Davies squared the ball through the center of Stuttgart’s penalty box– a pass that so accurately found the foot of Tel for the finish.

On multiple occasions, Davies found himself charging into the box, and in the 72nd minute, it took an astounding four Stuttgart defenders to take him down. Even though Bayern faltered defensively, no one deserves Man of the Match more than Alphonso Davies.

After three consecutive draws in the Bundesliga, Bayern Munich will face Barcelona in the midweek clash. This Champions League clash against the Spanish club will take place on Sept. 13.
