Bayern Munich will hold contract talks with Alexander Nubel in winter
The squad planning at Bayern Munich in the last 12 months has been spot on. Die Roten has strengthened the squad with quality players this summer and managed to move on fringe players for good value. The departure of Robert Lewandowski was also handled well and decisively this summer.
Die Roten has also been proactive in extending the contracts of key players in the squad. The midfield department is well settled with the contract renewals of Joshua Kimmich and Leon Goretzka. Kingsley Coman and Serge Gnabry will be spending the peak of their careers in Bavaria, while Thomas Muller has also extended their stay in Bavaria.
Manuel Neuer and Sven Ulreich also signed new deals earlier this year in the goalkeeper department. The former will be staying at the club until 2024, while Ulreich has signed a one-year extension until 2023. Die Roten is looking to initiate long-term plans in this department.
According to Kicker, Bayern wants to open talks with Alexander Nubel in the winter. The German Champions want him to sign a deal beyond 2025, as his current deal will expire at the end of the 2023/24 campaign.
Bayern will face a big challenge in convincing Alexander Nubel to pen down a new deal. The German goalkeeper is currently in the second and final year of his loan deal at Monaco. With Neuer pledging his future to Bayern until 2024, Nubel is not keen on playing second fiddle in Bavaria when he returns from his loan spell.
Nubel’s agent told Kicker that the 25-year-old goalkeeper is in no rush to sign a new deal. The former Schalke goalkeeper probably wants concrete assurances over playing time before committing his future to Rekordmeister. If Neuer is bound to stay beyond 2024, then Nubel may look for a permanent move away from Bavaria.
Despite turning 36 earlier this year, Neuer has shown no signs of decline. However, Bayern will have to start preparing for the future. The Bavarian club may have to find an agreement with Neuer and Nubel in such a way that both players share playing time during the 2023/24 campaign. Eventually, Alexander Nubel will start getting the majority of game time from the 2024/25 campaign. This is the only plausible plan that will convince Nubel to sign a new deal with Die Roten.

Bayern is also reportedly planning to start talks with Benjamin Pavard and Lucas Hernandez for new contracts. Both French defenders have two years left on their current deal. The negotiations could be straightforward as both defenders are settled in Bavaria.
