The last couple of weeks have seen Bayern Munich working on deals for the departure of fringe players in the first team. The Bavarian club made one last effort to sign Konrad Laimer from RB Leipzig, but their third bid was also rejected. After facing disappointment in the pursuit of Laimer, Die shifted their attention towards finding clubs for fringe players in the squad.

Tanguy Nianzou was one of the three players that were expected to leave Bavaria before the end of the transfer window. The French defender’s future was uncertain at Bayern after the arrival of Matthijs de Ligt from Juventus in July.

Die Roten was initially open to sending Nianzou out on loan, but Sevilla came up with a good offer that was too good to turn down. The French defender completed a permanent move to the La Liga club a few days ago. Nianzou is likely to become a key player for the Spanish club if he maintains fitness.

Bayern has inserted a sell-on and buy-back clause in the deal that saw Nianzou join Sevilla. The French defender has always been rated highly at Die Roten, so it is not surprising to see the presence of a buy-back clause in the deal. While talking to Kicker (via iMiaSanMia), Bayern’s sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic refused to rule out a move for Nianzou in the future.

"“It was brave to sign Tanguy. He’s one of the best defenders at his age. Should he develop at Sevilla, he can be an option again for us. It’s a win-win situation, positive both for the player and for the club.”"

According to reports in Spain, Bayern’s buyback clause will come into effect next summer. Die Roten will have to €55 million to bring the young defender back to Bavaria. Rekordmeister sold the young French defender for €20 million to Sevilla.

Considering the transfer fees for top center-backs in Europe during the last few years, Bayern has managed to get a reasonable buy-back clause for Nianzou. They should not need a center-back in the next window, but Nianzou could change their line of thought by developing properly at Sevilla.

Tanguy Nianzou arrived at Bayern in 2020 on a free transfer from Paris Saint-Germain. He struggled with injuries and form during his debut season in Bavaria. The French defender was a bit-part player for Julian Nagelsmann last season, so he needed to sort out a transfer to continue his development.

From a financial point of view, Bayern made a very good profit by selling Nianzou to Sevilla. The Bavarian club will be closely following young defender’s performances in La Liga. After frustrating last two seasons, Tanguy Nianzou will be looking to kickstart his career in La Liga with Sevilla.
