Consistency from Marcel Sabitzer

Bayern Munich fared well in the midfield against Frankfurt and Leipzig. Joshua Kimmich excelled in the deeper position, while Marcel Sabitzer operated as the box-to-box midfielder. The Austrian midfielder has started the season strongly after doing well on the pre-season tour.

Sabitzer endured a difficult debut season in Bavaria. There was speculation about his future by the end of last season. However, the former RB Leipzig midfielder was determined to stay at Bayern and deliver good performances during his second season.

Julian Nagelsmann hailed Sabitzer’s performances in pre-season training and friendly games. The Austrian midfielder was handed the opportunity to start the season in the first XI due to a knee injury to Leon Goretzka. Sabitzer grabbed this opportunity with both hands and delivered solid performances in the first two competitive games of the season. He was tenacious on and off the ball, which helped the team to press higher up the pitch.

With Goretzka starting training on the pitch, Sabitzer needs more solid performances to cement his place in the starting XI. Julian Nagelsmann has insisted that there will be no changes to the team on Sunday, so Sabitzer is expected to start. It remains to be seen if the Austrian midfielder can maintain consistency in his performances.
